Ruthie Bouck

This Just be bride Ruthie Love Bouck (formerly Edmunds) is not only one of the most beautiful brides, but also one of the most beautiful friends. I am so honored to have her featured on Just be. I have had the pleasure of knowing Ruthie since we were both little girls running around the soccer field. Ruthie is one of those friends that you make and hold on to and never let go, and she is exactly the same way as a wife. Jacob Bouck is one of the luckiest guys I know. From her fiery red hair that matches her personality, to her tender loving heart that matches her middle name, Ruthie Bouck is one of a kind and I cannot wait for you to get to know her a little better and learn a thing or two from her experiences!

A little bit about Ruthie and Jacob

Ruthie and Jacob began dating their junior year of college and it was a first for both of them as far as being in a serious relationship. That fall semester after only being together for a short while they both were faced with a serious challenge. Ruthie failed a class and Jacob lost his academic scholarship. They both are able to laugh it off now because it turned out to be for the best, but at the time they wondered if they should still be dating. After prayer and talking a lot they decided to keep pushing through this difficult time together and stay dating and they are very happy they did! Ruthie and Jacob pushed through that time and never looked back. They got engaged a year and 4 months later. Their engagement lasted about 6 months and by then they were more than ready to tie the knot! Since then they have both accomplished so much, Ruthie has accepted a nursing position and Jacob and will be serving in the Air Force. Enjoy the interview with Mrs. Bouck and see what you can learn from this newlywed.

Where did you get married? We got married at my parent’s house on about 10 acres of land. We had the reception alongside our creek and danced under a canopy of lights that was set up across the creek on a sort of island set along side the hill.

Did you do a first look? Yes,  I was so happy I decided to get a first look. For the whole day I had all the emotions of seeing Jacob and what it would be like and I was happy to share all of those emotions with just him. It also gave him time to see me as his bride before anyone else did. It got me excited for the next few hours to come.

Where did you get your dress? Wedding Wonderland in Knoxville, TN.

Did you enjoy the dress shopping

experience? Yeah I did, it was kind of a

whirlwind experience and after trying on

so many dresses, its hard to remember

what you wanted specifically because

they are all fabulous!

What was your favorite gift? 2 gifts

come to mind: someone printed our

invitation on really pretty stone and we

have it on a shelf with an easel, and the

other would be my mint Kitchen Aid

mixer, I may not use it everyday but

dang it’s pretty!!

Where did you honeymoon? Cancun

with Excellence Resorts, Playa Meujeres,

highly, highly recommended!

What song was your first dance to?

Let’s Stay Together- Maroon 5

Were you happy with the music? Loved it, although, I was not aware that you were supposed to choose the last song of the night and so I didn’t. Our DJ played It’s Gonna be a Good Night by the Black Eyed Peas and it was an awkward way to go out because everyone was really paying attention to the lyrics….

Did you have a wedding coordinator? Yes, my best friend’s sister helped so much and it helped the day move so smoothly! Would highly recommend everyone have a wedding coordinator. It took out a lot of the stress knowing I had someone handling the flow of events.

Were you happy with the photography? Yeah I was. I think I could’ve given her more direction but she did a good job. There was a point when she pulled us away for too long to take pictures after the ceremony. We had already gotten pictures during our first look so we felt this was unessecary.

Did you have a videographer? Yes, we found him through a friend. It was one of his first weddings and he did a fabulous job. However, my mom was not shown in the short video clip and as the mother of the bride, it was a big deal to her. We have also asked for the raw footage of the ceremony and reception just for our viewing and have not gotten it. All of this could’ve been solved had we asked for it before hand. So word of advice give as much direction for what you want as far as video and photography go up front.

What advice would you give to brides planning a                                                          wedding right now? Don’t forget that your fiancé                                                        is more than just an answer to a wedding question.                                                      It’s hard to not get swept up in the details.

What was your favorite part of the ceremony? I                                                          enjoyed that my brother walked me down to the                                                          beginning of the aisle and handed me off to my                                                            dad and my dad walked down the rest of aisle to                                                          hand me away.

12 Questions to ask your photographer

What kind of pictures do you wish you had taken? I didn’t get a picture with my brother and it makes me so upset. Ask your photographer to capture special moments with you interacting with each person in your party. These are the pictures I cherish the most because chances are, they will capture your relationship in a picture and it’s so sweet!

What did you find to be the most difficult part of wedding planning? All the little details that you don’t necessarily care about. For example, for me it was things like what the flower girl wore. My niece has great style so I just let her and her mom pick it out. No need to send me 8 pictures of different dresses and hairstyles. Just choose one!!

What has been the hardest part about marriage? Meeting in the middle with the other person about the way they are used to doing life. In their everyday routines at first it is hard to see what works best for both of you because you are used to living independently for so long.

What has been your favorite thing about being married? Always having your best friend with you. It’s so important to always be able to be goofy and not take life too seriously. My husband is really good at making me laugh and relax.
